A time for celebration

I have 2 big announcements to make after my 5 month hiatus from my blog. In just under 2 weeks I will be moving to Waterton Lakes National Park, to start my 6 month stint as a front desk agent at the lovely Bayshore Inn. Then a year from now, in March 2016, I will be heading off to London to spend a year training in a hotel.

Something I noticed about the way I live my life is that I aspire to inspire everyone else around me. The other day, I was talking to a girl taking a travel and tourism 2 year program and while I was explaining my new job to her she was practically drooling. She just kept repeating “that’s exactly what I want to do.” And I said well why don’t you? For her, she’s in school, so a job starting mid April until October it wasn’t plausible. But I explained a lot of the seasonal places won’t open until May or even June depending how far North they are. Another thing is that after September, if they stay open the extra month, half the staff usually goes back to school and the other half are enough to get by.

There’s no reason to wait to start living your dream. If you want to spend your summer working at a resort instead of retail in the mall, then GO! I found my job on Indeed, but there’s so many job sites, or if there’s a certain town you want to live in, look up adventure companies and hotels, go on their websites and apply there. Another thing you can do in places like Jasper or Banff is just show up and apply. All the little coffee shops and nooks don’t usually post online but staff are constantly coming and going. I would assume Whistler is similar, but it’s so high in demand you’re taking a bit of a risk with that one.

Any who, I just wanted to update the world on my life as I hope to go back to regularly blogging my adventures!
